Best All time Game

What game has kept you glued to the screen for hours, costing you a large slice of your life?

Sadly I have 2 games that have kept me glued to the screen, one more than the other, however, I now play neither of these games.

The first and most game that has kept me glued to the screen for hours on end and has cost the largest slice of my life is Sid Meier's Civilization. From Civ 1 all the way to Civ 4. This game, if you haven't played it, is THE most addictive game i have ever played. You cannot play this game for 30 minutes. I found that out pretty quickly. There I was sitting down thinking ok, i'll play this for half an hour, then the next thing I know it's 5 hours later and i'm still playing.

It's an awesome game, and the fact that no game is ever the same in Civ means that each time you start a game there's a different map, a different outcome, different wars, it's always completely different.

The way I managed to weed myself off Civ 4 was to actually uninstall it from my PC. Then if I had the urge to play it, I didn't play it because I couldn't be bothered to reinstall the whole thing. My biggest concern now regarding Civ is the upcoming release of Civ 5. It's new, it's sparkly, and it's tempting! Do i buy it? Do I play it? Do i get sucked in again?


The other game I spent a lot of time on is GateWars on the internet. But I would say that I didn't spend as much time on it as i did Civ. It wasn't as addictive as Civ, and the fact that turns are every 30 minutes and if you ran out of resources and you didn't have anyone to help you out then you'd have to wait until the next turn or spend $$$. Whereas Civ you hit 'enter' to end the turn and moreorless immediately it's your turn again once the computer has moved.

Ok, so for me, I agree with Gamer, Civ took ages of my life, but the most costly are the Sim games, like Sim City, Theme Park, The Sims (first one only). But the all time game I'm sad to say is a Formula 1 racing game called Grand Prix 2. I think it was released back in 1996!!! I spent a large part of my teenage years alone playing this.

ok, Mine is quite a recent one. I spent hours and hours and hours on the Xbox360 playing Mass Effect. Scanning planets for goodies, driving the space buggey about looking for anything of interest, killing aliens and making friends with them at the same time. Great game.

Of all time, it would have to be Super Mario since I play that a lot when I was little.

Golden Eye! How could I have forgotten Golden Eye on the N64. Amazing game, played it over and over.

I remember Golden Eye! I was always trying to shoot the baddies in the arse to make them jump about! Genius.

GTA SA, (San Andreas) it did not reqauire loading, it had planes, and so many features.

Randomly, whilst putting our suitcases back in the loft I stumbled across my old copy Golden Eye for the N64! I thought that must be an antique now, got to be worth a few quid.
I checked on ebay and guess what... No, pretty much worthless!
